| | | NAUVOO, IL. - "Mormon Mecca"...
- is only 3 1/2 hours north of St. Louis on the Mississippi River. Imagine a town of 1,000 people with 300+ Mormon Missionaries and over 300,000 Mormon "Pilgrims" over the summer. Imagine a small Baptist church of 11 people and 2 missionaries at the Nauvoo Christian Visitor's Center being all that stands as a voice for the Gospel of Christ. A vision trip can easily be scheduled for your leadership team where you will visit Carthage Jail where Joseph Smith died, then on to Joseph Smith's grave and the Smith family cemetery. From there you will visit historical Nauvoo and visit the Mormon Visitor's Center; walk around the temple and finally visit with Rocky and Helen Hulse at the Christian Visitor's Center and meet with Martin Pitcher, the pastor of the Nauvoo Baptist Church. This vision trip will help you to determine if this might be a good place for your church to do mission work. Imagine yourself joining force with this handful of Christians in Nauvoo for one week this summer to make a stand for Christ and share the Gospel. Teams will work the Baptist Church in the morning doing Vacation Bible School and working with the Nauvoo Christian Visitor's Center in the afternoon/evening witnessing one-on-one to Mormons attending a pageant that celebrates the life of Joseph Smith on the streets where he once proclaimed the false "gospel" of Mormonism. If you're interested in participating with this effort, please see Doug and Elaine Hollen, or you can contact them by phone at (314) 469-6501 or (314) 691-5421.
